EION Open IP Environment DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a portable implementation of the Service and Relay Agent components as per RFC 2131 and RFC 2132.

DHCP Highlights and Literature

EION Open IP Environment DHCP demonstrates the following features:

  • Delivers host-specific configuration parameters from a DHCP server to a host.
  • Provides persistent storage of network parameters for network clients.
  • Allocates network addresses to clients.
  • Assigns clients with a network address for a finite lease.
  • The allocated addresses whose lease has expired can be reused.
  • Provides a mechanism for a client to acquire all of the IP configuration parameters that it needs in order to function.
  • The server maintains a database of allocated addresses and leases, in local permanent storage.
  • DHCP supports all the standard DHCP messages - DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPOFFER, DHCPREQUEST,DHCPACK, DHCPNAK, DHCPDECLINE, DHCPRELEASE, and DHCPINFORM
  • DHCP uses UDP as its transport protocol.
  • DHCP has a Relay Agent that communicates with the DHCP server and client.
  • Provides highly portable code, which includes flexible buffer and timer management libraries.
